The Minister of Information, Lawyer Dr., confirmed Paul Morcos said, “The function of social media was created to communicate between people, and not to harm religious beliefs, symbols, or references, or to degrade dignity and personal insult.” He said in a statement: “I have followed hate speech on social media. We at the Ministry of Information are working to reduce it through awareness campaigns, meetings, and communications to address it, but we respect the role of prosecution, which belongs to the judiciary and not to the Ministry of Information.” He added: "I encourage the expression of political opinion to the fullest extent, but while respecting the rights, freedoms and dignity of others." He concluded: “Through our keenness to adhere to freedom of opinion and expression at the media and political levels, we call on all media outlets, regardless of their diversity, as well as social media pioneers, to adopt a rational, balanced and non-provocative discourse, especially since freedom is a responsibility, and social stability and freedom are two halves. As for what happens in terms of transgressing this framework, it is not freedom at all and falls under the criminal prosecution of the judiciary, which we respect, and not the Ministry of Information.”
